Training


TAPS Center provides training to all officers, teachers and juvenile justice workers interested in building bridges between the at-risk youth and law enforcement with most training performed by TAPS Center co-founders Dr. Everette B. Penn, criminologist and Mr. Brian Lumpkin, Assistant Chief (Ret.) from the Houston Police Department.

We provide specialized training in:

Each TAPS Officer receives six hours of training in:

  • History and Philosophy of TAPS
  • Teen Brain
  • Implicit and Explicit Bias
  • 21st Century Policing
  • Effective Listening and Teaching Skills with Youth
  • Doing TAPS Academy in your City
  • Role Play, Test and Presentation
