The TAPS Team travels to Washington, DC

This past weekend, members of the TAPS Team traveled to Washington, DC – by invitation from Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (TX, 18th Congressional District) – to present at the 2015 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, 45th Annual Legislation Conference! Houston Police Department’s Sargent Anthony Turner and TAPS Graduate, Ms. Stephanie Mosquera (accompanied by her mother, Ms. Maria Serrano) participated as panelists in the “CRIMINAL JUSTICE LEGAL ISSUES FORUM: Building Better Relationships and Safer Interactions between Minority Youth and Law Enforcement.”

As a result, Ms. Mosquera had the opportunity to publically share how TAPS has impacted her life, meet Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, tour the White House, and experience many of the Washington, DC Memorials & Monuments. Additionally, Ms. Mosquera attended – by invitation only – a social engineering event at the Hay Adams Hotel hosted by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. Honorees at this event included US Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Civil Rights Activist Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Geneva Reed-Veal, the mother of Sandra Bland.
